오늘의영어공부 Burn the midnight oil

여러분도 밤늦게까지 공부하거나 일해본 경험이 있으실 거에요.

저는 특히 시험 직전에 벼락치기를 할 때가 많아서

늦게까지 공부한 경험이 많은데요.

이럴 때 쓸 수 있는 표현이 영어로 있답니다 ^^

늦은 시간까지 공부를 하거나 일을 하는 것을 나타내는 표현이라고 Burn the midnight oil 을 사용하실 수 있어요.

예전에는 기름을 넣은 조명을 사용했죠?

이 조명을 계속 피우면서 밤늦게까지 공부한 것에서 유래된 말이랍니다.
